metal ketubahs not in my future, but…

Posted on 12 March 2012 by admin

Good morning! It’s been a while since I posted but I have not been completely idle. Just otherly directed.

To shake things up a bit, I’ve been playing with new materials. I don’t think they will end up being ketubahs, but in my experience it’s the little deviations you make on your path that end up making the biggest differences in your life.

A few months ago I designed a plaque for my neighbor and we executed it in laser cut stainless steel. It was a (computer) hand lettered sentence in Hebrew and English. It was so much fun to work in steel again it got me excited to try some more projects using lasers. There is such a thrill to seeing something that was only a drawing on a computer screen manifested in the world as a solid metal object.

My husband has a 3-d printed metal sculpture that is mind blowing.  It’s the kind of thing that makes me want to go back in time and actually pay attention in math class- you actually CAN use algebra in real life!
